Transparency is a central element of sustainability, and our goal is to be as see-through as the clean water that comes out of our treatment systems. The Xylem Code of Conduct spells out our commitment to open and honest communications.
Although we at Xylem compete vigorously to be an industry leader, we must do so fairly, being careful to communicate with honesty and to represent accurately the quality, features and availability of our products and services. This means maintaining high standards of fairness and honesty when engaging in marketing, promotional and advertising activities and refraining from making disparaging or untrue statements about our competitors' products or services.
We communicate to our stakeholders through our annual report, our company website and intranet site, news releases, trade shows, our sustainability site and report, and other vehicles. In this way, we give our stakeholders the information they need to take an accurate measure of our company. And for us, external recognition provides useful progress markers on our journey to become a best-in-class performer in the areas that encompass sustainability.

In September 2012, Xylem was named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes, recognizing all of the work we’ve done to advance sustainable business practices and report transparently our progress over time.
