Xylem announces $300K contract for mass spectrometry technology

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., January 10, 2013 – Xylem Inc. (NYSE: XYL), a leading global water technology company focused on addressing the world’s most challenging water issues, announced today that it has been awarded a $300,000 contract by NASA to provide special mass spectrometry technology with the ultimate goal of detecting water on the moon. 
“We are delighted that NASA has awarded Xylem this contract to help them further explore the moon,” said Chris McIntire, president of Xylem Analytics.  “We believe that our CMS mass spectrometer is a great example of innovative technology that meets an important customer need and we are proud to be part of NASA’s continuing lunar exploration.”  
NASA is currently developing a rover-based system under its RESOLVE program to analyze for water and other chemical compounds in moon dust on a possible future lunar mission.  Xylem will provide a miniaturized sector-field mass spectrometer that incorporates its patented IonCCD™* array detector for the detection of water and other target compounds.

Xylem Inc. reports improved second quarter earnings

Xylem Inc. (NYSE: XYL), a leading global water technology company dedicated to solving the world’s most challenging water issues, today announced second quarter 2014 net income of $86 million, or $0.47 per share. Excluding the impact of restructuring and realignment costs and special tax items, adjusted net income was $88 million or $0.48 per share, up 12 cents or 33 percent from the comparable period in 2013.  Second quarter revenue was $1 billion, up 4 percent organically, reflecting continued strength in emerging markets and modest growth in the U.S. and Europe.  Second quarter adjusted operating margin improved 220 basis points, driven by increased volume, realization of operating efficiencies and execution of ongoing initiatives to reduce costs. - See more at:
